有一股臭味。

他循着味儿找过去，在一棵两人合抱粗的树下头，看见了一坨东西。
是粪便，风干了，表面结着一层白霜似的膜。
他蹲下来，凑近看了看，又用手里的木棍拨了拨。
粪便不算小，得有小孩拳头那么大，一坨一坨的。
粪便旁边还有脚印。
他低下头，仔细看。
落叶被踩出几个坑，印子不算深，边缘还算清晰，没被风吹散，也没被新落的叶子盖上。
徐远伸出手指，顺着脚印的边缘比了比。

他又站起来，看那棵柞树。
树皮上有几道新鲜的剐蹭痕迹，毛刺还在，应该是蹭痒痒蹭的。
蹭的位置不算低，得是中等体型的畜生才能够着。
徐远蹲回去，盯着那坨粪便，脑子转得飞快。
“粪便坨不小，不会是兔子、狐狸这些小猎物。”
“也不像是狼。”
“狼粪发白，里头有毛，这个没有。”
“更不是熊，熊粪比这粗得多。”
“树皮剐蹭的痕迹，说明是蹭痒痒，这种习惯，猪，羊，鹿都有。”
“但羊的粪便不是这样的。”
“羊粪是颗粒状的，一粒一粒的，这个是坨状，挤在一起。”
“再结合地形，这片山脉内，野牛等较为稀少，不像关外。”
“中等体型，不群居，会蹭树，粪便坨状……”
徐远心底盘算不断，最后得出了结局。
“鹿，野猪，这两种可能性最大！”
要是鹿，就好办点。
鹿不会主动进攻，见人就惊吓逃跑，捕猎难度不算太高。"
