霍凛没回答。
他看着小乖描完那个字，然后抬起头，眼巴巴地看着他。
“爹爹，这个字是你的名字，为什么有这么多笔画呀？”
霍凛顿了顿，伸手握住她的小手。
她的手太小，裹在他掌心里，几乎看不见。
“是祖上定的。”他带着她的手，重新写那个字。
一笔一划。
“这样，好不好看？”
“好看！”小乖笑弯了眼。
丁砚书看着这一幕，默默退到一旁。
他知道，督主心里已经有了打算。
小乖描完一页字，又开始玩彩色石头。
霍凛继续看密报，眉头微蹙。
小乖偷偷看他，拿起一颗蜜饯，踮脚塞进他嘴里。
“爹爹，吃甜的，不皱眉。”
霍凛含着蜜饯，甜味在舌尖化开。
他低头，对上她亮晶晶的眼睛。
“好吃吗？”她问。
“嗯。”
小乖满意了，又坐回去。
过了一会儿，她指着案上的奏折：“爹爹，这个上面的字，能给我讲讲吗？”
那是一份无关紧要的奏折，某个地方官弹劾同僚侵占田产。
换做旁人，敢碰监察司的奏折已是死罪。
但霍凛看着她好奇的眼睛，拿起奏折。
用三岁孩子能听懂的话。
“有两个坏叔叔，”他说，“一个抢了另一个的糖，还撒谎说是自己的。爹爹要查清楚，把糖还给该得的人。”
小乖听得很认真。
“那爹爹查清楚了吗？”
“正在查。”"
